DURRINGTON WALLS

Durrington, tell me,
How would you explain?
This place we call home,
On Salisbury Plain.

A village it maybe,
But it’s growing up,
Till it spills all around,
Like an overfilled cup.

Surrounded in history,
And tales of old,
So much is still hidden,
And yet to be told.

Like a jigsaw, another piece,
Waits to be found,
For someone to stumble
Upon Wiltshire ground.

Then the truth will at last,
Be uncovered for all,
The reason for building,
The Durrington wall,

It’s what I’ve suspected,
And I still have no doubt,
T’was to keep us all in,
Not to keep others out.
